Celebration event: SCCS asks Sir David Attenborough

The first SCCS was held in Cambridge in 2000. Sir David Attenborough kindly agreed to celebrate the 20th conference in the series by participating in an hour-long question and answer session with student delegates, chaired by a distinguished SCCS alumnus, Dr Ana Rodrigues (Senior Researcher, CNRS Montpelier, France). Dr Rodrigues selected a varied mixture of questions from those proposed by delegates in advance of the conference. The chosen students then posed their questions directly to Sir David, who had requested that he should not know the questions in advance. The result was a fascinating session, after which Sir David joined in with the conference photograph and then toured the exhibition of student posters.

The following delegates had their questions chosen for the session:

Robert Barber, Aditya Srinivasulu Chelmala, Matilda Dunn, Camilla Blasi Foglietti, Cassandra N Flint, Oskar Gran, Unmesh Gajanan Katwate, Isabel Serrano Mac-Gregor, Daniel Arauz Naranjo, Megan Nolan, Grace Nolan, Debby Ng, Holly Paget-Brown, Samuel Penny, Yasmireilda Richard, Ryan Rodrigues, Inês Maria Simões Silva, Dragana Šnjegota, Bibek Raj Shrestha, Annkathrin Sharp, Lucia Sanchez-Trejo, Blake Alexander Simmons, Yara Shennan-Farpón, Thomas Timberlake.

Special thanks to Jamie Gundry for the photographs of our special event.
