Bursaries

We have two bursary schemes available.

The global bursary scheme is for anyone who is not from a high-income country (as defined HERE), regardless of where you are currently based. So if you’re not from a high income country but studying in the UK, EU or USA, for instance, you are eligible to apply for a global bursary. These bursaries are highly competitive and most are awarded to applicants offering a high-quality talk or poster.

The UK bursary scheme is funded by UKRI NERC’s Centre for Landscape Regeneration, in line with the NERC Diversity and Inclusion Living Action Plan. The scheme aims to improve diversity and inclusion in environmental sciences and support postgraduate students or early career researchers from under-represented groups.

Bursary details

Successful bursary applicants will receive full or partial support.

• Global Bursary =
  • visa / ETA costs reimbursed at the conference on submission of receipts
  • local travel reimbursed at the conference on submission of receipts
  • return flights purchased by SCCS
  • UK travel purchased by SCCS
  • accommodation provided by SCCS
  • conference fee waived
• Global Grant =
  • up to £500 towards travel and visa / ETA costs reimbursed at the conference on submission of receipts
  • accommodation purchased by SCCS
  • conference fee waived
• UK Bursary =
  • public transport costs purchased by SCCS or reimbursed at the conference on submission of receipts
  • accommodation purchased by SCCS
  • conference fee waived

Bursary and grant holders will need to pay for their own personal travel insurance.
